I recently purchased a new Dahon Boardwalk S1 2005 for casual use. At that time, not much information about this bike could be found on the internet for me to make an educated decision. Hopefully this blog will make a difference.

First of all, some external links about this folding bike:
  1. Discussions at bikeforums.net
  2. Dahon's website - Boardwalk S1 for some reason is not listed on Dahon's website. Many components used on S1 can still be found on the website.

A Few S1 Snapshots

During the unpacking I took some snapshots just to show what are expected.

The unopened box

Inside the box

Out of the box

A rubber protective thingy stuck to the frame latch, so I had to cut it out with a box cutter.

Unfolded (The unfolding was easy other than the frame latch thingy)

Front and rear view

The fork

The handlebar and brake lever. The color is off due to the flash. Both should be black. The lever is plastic.

Top tube, showing the frame latch

Seat stay, showing the hole possibly for anchoring a rear brake?

BOARDWALK - the paint

Finally, the slim-down version, 25 lb, without the fender, kickstand, and rear rack.
